I am Laura LeBlanc, the owner of High Peaks Training, a licensed level 2 USA Cycling certified coach in addition to being a AFPA certified personal trainer. Currently I am taking certification courses in Biomechanics and Core Strength Conditioning, as well as having completed a home study Sport Physiology for Coaches course. I have my CPR with AED and First Aid certifications. Last October I attended a Coaching Summit at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The seminars were tremendous as well as all of the people that I met who have offered their expertise in the way of help and advice.
I have been involved in competitive sports my whole life. The road that lead me to want to become a coach is a somewhat long one. No, I do not have a history of bike racing filled with championships and former glory, but I do have one of success. About five years ago I was snowboard racing. My first ever race I won a bronze medal. My second race silver. After that it was all gold. Half way through that season I sustained a knee injury. I was able to finish the season and I took first at the Western Division finals. I had a knee surgery and started in to the next season full of confidence when things went horribly wrong. Half way through the season I could no longer even walk with out a limp and pain never mind race. I was told that I needed a knee replacement. I did not want that because that meant an end to all high impact sports. I worked with my doctor and he rebuilt my knee with what was there, thus giving me a second chance. Next season and three screws later I went back and reclaimed my Championship, retired and gave my gold medal to my doctor. During my rehabilitation I discovered road biking and fell in love with it. It is a wonderful competitive outlet. I decided to become a coach so that I could help others discover success from within, whatever that may be. I know what it takes to win, what it is like to start over from the beginning, team work and most important of all how to listen.
I work with athletes of most ability levels from the recreational rider looking to go further or gain a new level of fitness to someone who would like to complete their first century or get a new best time. I also work with racing enthusiast from beginner levels to masters and pro. Let me help you gain that racing edge. I also have the ability to train athletes using power.
Thank you for your time,
Laura LeBlanc
